Dude, your gonna need 5.56mm ammo, not 7.62, unless you have some kind of a modified M-16. Is there some kind of pop-up that tells you the ammo needed?

Well that's good to know. I'm such a gun n00b. Jarhead would be rolling over in his grave if he were dead!

No, there's no ammo pop-up thingy for ammo. There are tool tips; maybe I should check that for the M-16.

The guy that helped me said, when I asked him if he needed anything, "Some 7.62 ammo would be nice." So maybe whatever rifle he had needs 7.62. I just assumed that's what mine needed.

Ok, back to the wasteland!

The 7.62 was used in the M-60 Machine Gun and I think the M-14 rifle.

It's used in the obiquitous FN-FAL battle rifle as well. Note, the Nato 7.62 is not the same as the Soviet 7.62 used in the SKS and AK-47 (et al). I don't know if the game makes such distinctions or not.

Most of the games that distinguish 5.56N from 7.62N ammo also tend to do the same for 7.62R (Russian 7.62x39). The larger Russkie 7.62x54 used by SVDs and machineguns is sometimes mixed in with the smaller one though, to make things even more confusing. :P

Hi. How do you self medicate. I lost some blood due to eating rotten stuff and the screen is gray scale.
Need to replenish blood. I now have and IV kit + Saline Pack. But I don't know how to administer it.
Does all of these need 2 people? I can't heal myself?

I'm not sure. I do know that you'll regenerate blood if you're fully hydrated.

Yeah looks like all medic actions can be administered to another person but yourself.
So it looks like you regain blood (slowly) by yourself by just eating and drinking. :(

Well my guy finally died. Such a pity. Because he did not recover from his bout with sickness after eating rotten fruit. >:(
He was so stocked up with food, armed with a fireman's axe and an M4 carbine (3 magazines).
Bled until unconscious when he battled his last zombie.

Well, that was anti climactical. I spawned in while the game world was as dark as a politician's heart. I couldn't see at all so I started to walk and the next thing I fell off a pier into a harbor. I've been swimming around for about 20 minutes but there are no ladders or steps to get back out of the water. I even spawned out and picked a different server only to end up back in the drink, this time at high noon so I could see how there were indeed no ways back up. I suppose I could keep swimming along the concrete piers hoping to get to a beach but it would take a long time based on what I can see from my low vantage point. Also, I'm getting thirsty. I suppose that if my guy dies then I can start over and watch my step the next time. :-\

Night is a bitch in this game. That's why there is a whole slew of servers only playing in daylight (check for DayZ with a captial Z instead of Dayz in the mapmode coloumn).
Never ever use your flashlight. The lighting in the game is absolutely gorgeous, but you will become a bullit magnet in an instant because people see you from miles away. lots of player killing going on.

The game is still VERY rough at this point. Characters get deleted or corrupt for no reason and a lot of the features that were in the mod aren't in yet. Still, its super exciting around Balota, Cherno and Elektro (where most people are)! Especially when you finally have some decent gear again and rather not want to loose your char!

It's epic to cuff another player and make him go with you as a prisoner. or force feed people stuff that makes their character sick. :P

Well...they weren't joking when they said it was ALPHA! I mean - this really is ALPHA!!

I had wrote a load more but deleted it as it's kind of unfair because it IS still in ALPHA (did I say that already?)

I very much like the premise...so I have high hopes for it
