Ok... can anyone recommend somewhere I can get facepacks and logos without feeling like I'm going to get my machine hacked?   FM Scout and SortItOutSI both ended up sending me to sites where I felt less than comfortable clicking on anything....  One tried to get me to install a download manager that was going to install all sorts of crap....   I get that these files are huge, but jeez....   I couldn't find what I thought I wanted on the Steam Workshop...

I've downloaded stuff from all of those sites and never had a problem.  From now on though I'm sticking with Steam Workshop stuff.  It's just so much easier.

I looked at Steam and didn't see any comprehensive face packs.  There are face packs but nothing covering all leagues.  Steam Workshop seems to have just about everything else though.

That's because they want you to become a paid member.
For something like 10 quid a year you get access to their own Fast download server instead of having to use the free mirror crappy sites.

Its an interesting pre-order strategy for Football Manager 2015 this year......they have made the pre orders available for now, with delivery of the game in November some time.  That wasn't the odd part to me.....the odd part was that they don't plan to announce what the new features are until October.  Maybe that is typical for this game series, but I thought in the past they at least provided some high level information as what might be included.  I know the diehards will immediately pre order since they buy every version, but not knowing what is actually improved, not something I would look to do myself, especially since you don't get nothing very special with the pre order except access to the beta version 2 weeks before release.

To be honest, I have learned my own lesson to not pick this game up during the original release anyway, you can typically pick it up much cheaper a couple months later and by then hopefully the bigger issues would already be patched.

I've found that buying this game every other year seems to be the best strategy.  I can easily spend 2 years on each game and it seems like once something new gets introduced into the game it gets perfected (or greatly improved) the follow year.  I'll continue enjoying 2014 and plan on purchasing 2016.

Just curious. Surprised there isn't a discussion here, at least not that I've seen yet.

For the last few years, I get into a cycle that goes something like this....

1)  I get all excited about the game as they do the pre-sale hype...not a big Football fan, but the game looks so good that I over look that.

2)  I start to read beta/initial impressions and always seems like people find a lot of issues....therefore, I hold off on purchasing.

3)  Sometime around Xmas, usually goes on sale for what I believe is a reasonable price, so I jump in.

4)  I then realize people are still talking about the game needing a patch or two for the game to be complete...so I wait in playing

5)  I begin to dabble with the game, but quickly get overwhelmed with the options....what size should the DB be?  How many players? What countries?

6)  After getting frustrated (largely because I don't understand Football as well as I do American sports), I put it on the shelf, largely unplayed.

Rinse and repeat every year.....

I've got 2014 and it's fine for my footballing needs. I haven't played it in a while anyway

This is a bit like OOTP though...a few changes justify a release. Sometimes they do - often, they don't - for me at least. This is one of those games I buy (sometimes) every 2nd or 3rd iteration...I don't need updated rosters

Not sure if I like all of them.

I generally don't buy FM until it's on a nice big sale, after having been out for awhile and patched a lot.  I may even skip this year since the changes didn't seem all that amazing.
