*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT WATCHED THROUGH SEASON 6*
Nothing would make me happier than to see this series go on for quite some time more. I love the characters and (most of the time) the story. Charming has become a place that I almost wish I could go drive through. Just to catch a glimpse of the ice cream shop or the police station. Or even the hospital. Alas, September 9th is the highly anticipated, and mortally dreaded, premier of the seventh, and final, season of Sons of Anarchy.
There is so much to look forward to: the fallout of Gemma bludgeoning Tara to death; what happens to Juice; how does Jax get SAMCRO legit; does the race war that is coming pit black & brown versus the Sons; will Nero stick by Gemma during whatever shitstorm is pointed her way; will Tig marry the transgender chick? And oh, so much more.
Unfortunately, at least from my perspective, the bittersweet anticipation of this final season and its ever dwindling supply of episodes counting down to fade out, will be marred by two choices of actor that sadden me. The first is Marilyn Manson. Everyone's favorite pretender-gender shock rocker will be playing the leader of a white supremacist gang. Now, I will admit, that my dislike for Manson has lessened over the years since his 90's prominence. It was mostly based on the character he portrayed and the title of one of his albums, Antichrist Superstar. But old habits die hard and I am sad that he will be stinking up the screen of my all time favorite tv show.
The greater travesty is that Courtney Love will have a recurring role this season as Abel's teacher. Now, many of you here know my intense loathing for Kurt Cobain. Courtney is tied, part and parcel, in to that. Now, I won't spoil any one's day with a screed of how I wish Ms. Love would take a long walk off a short asteroid, but, suffice it to say, I am sufficiently annoyed to seriously consider not watching this final season. Yes. I know. That's cutting my nose off to spite my face and I am sure I will repent of it, but, for now, I am going to have to carefully consider what I am going to do.
https://tv.yahoo.com/news/marilyn-manson-barely-recognizable-sons-anarchy-142932029.html
I'm in too MetalDog. Maybe Ms. Love will get to wash dishes with Gemma.
the Sons of Punarchy cant wait.
I have the same mixed emotions.....really excited to see how everything ends up, but at the same time hate the fact it will end. It really seems these past six years of watching has really flown by fast which tells me I have really enjoyed every bit of it. Clearly my best tv show over this period of time, with games of thrones and vikings following.
Turns out, Theo Huxtable is coming to Charming. And riding on his own Harley, no less.

The coolest tidbit in that whole article is that the season pemier will be an hour and forty five minutes.
Two more quick hits:

A one minute preview for the final season:
https://tv.yahoo.com/news/watch-first-trailer-sons-anarchy-season-7-200254839.html
I think Jax taking the club legit is done for. There's a hint as to that in the preview, unless of course it's simply misdirection. The Sons are what the Sons are, maybe Jax realizes that finally.
Honestly, I think this whole season is going to be used to settle scores and leave the place a smoking ruin. And Jax will just ride off in to the sunset with his boys.
Tonight's the night SOA's devotees. Pool on how long before blood is spilt? I'll go 20 min. Are you in? :coolsmiley:
2 minutes. O0

5 minutes, tops. What do I win?

That wouldn't stop Tig. Just sayin'......
What are the odds on Tiggy surviving the season?
I don't know the answer to that, but, he's getting a girlfriend this season. And if you think about it, you'll know exactly who it is.
And I am going to take no blood. The only episode this season without it.
And here we go!
YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
blood in the first 5 seconds. MUHAHAHAHA
I was wrong about the blood. Almost went with opens with it rather than none. Oh well.

Can I change my pick to the opening credits? Anybody want to predict how long Theo's gonna last? And how is it that Wendy, the one person too dumb to live, makes it through each week? :idiot2: Poor Wong Chu should've got some Wang Chung before he got to redecorate Jemma's kitchen.

Blah blah blah. The only thing you can be sure of when I bet, is that I will lose. So, no big surprise here. :P
when the time comes tell us your Super Bowl pic and the spread.
You're on :)
The car chase in the orange grove was pure cheese. The rest of the episode was pretty good. Including, WTF Juice?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?
I thought the 2 local muscle guys were out of place. I guess one was Indian Rocks related and now shit's really got started. I think too much is going on for this to all play out in one season. We need an 8th.
I got the feeling that was the Indian Hills chapter presidents son. Could be wrong, but that's the vibe I was catching. And he knows where the shotgun came from.
Don't these people EVER have a normal day? Just once I'd like to see them just stay home and play with their kids. Maybe have a meal together... no I wouldn't. Tara tried to help with the dishes and look where that got her.
I wasn't impressed with either the just drive up and start shooting battle or the car chase. That part might as well have been from The A Team. I guess the badder bad guys are like Imperial Stormtroopers? I don't remember the show stretching believability so far in the past.
Rest of the episode was good.

This was such a horribly bad move by Jax....he's likely turned one of his most supportive chapters into an enemy at the worst possible time. Not to mention, how does Jax justify this before his own chapter even. And what, does he kill another chapter President who is justified in his anger? Bad, bad juju here for Redwood.
Jax is completely unraveled. Gemma is bringing about her greatest fears, the destruction of her family and the MC. When I first started with Sons, I thought of it as Jax's story. Now I see it mainly as Gemma's. She's driven events throughout.
I'm beginning to think she may survive and be left with the ruins of it all, in the knowledge that she's been responsible for all of it.
That's a good call, mirth. I hadn't thought of that. Jax dying in her arms. They boys wards of the state, or worse, caught in a crossfire. The Mayans or Chinese taking over Charming. Nero, dead. I don't believe in suicide, but you would strongly have to consider how you move on from all that.
^You two are some depressing sob's....not that you are necessarily wrong, mind you. Wouldn't that be a shocker...everyone expects Gemma to die and Jax to live, but what if....
Wow.....
Any way you cut it, things won't end well. If Jax lives and Gemma dies, where does that leave Jax?. His mother killed his father and the love of his life. She robbed him of any chance for a better life for himself, his sons and the MC. How the hell does he carry on from that? With Wendy at his side?
If this really is Sutter's take on Hamlet. The end will not be pretty.
However it will be quite entertaining :)
That's one of the coolest things I've seen in the whole series.
I shit you not... the look that Jemma can give is the same shit I saw in the eyes of the chick that drove through my house.

I'm so ready for Juice to die. It's long friggin overdue.
And Abel is turning into one creepy kid.
Love the new sheriff. I'm guessing her whole angle is a setup to get inside the club.

Juice is the one and only Son that, since day one, I've wondered how the hell he ever got patched. He's never come across to me as a real outlaw biker. He could have died in season one and the show would have been better.
Anybody do a Dead Body Tally so far. Are we still in double digits or triple by now? :buck2: :buck2: :buck2:
Damn!!! Didn't see that coming. Indian Hills revenge via China? ???
That was my guess.
Courtney Love as the wholesome school teacher? Interesting casting.
I'm suspicious of the Sheriff or Manson's character setting the club up. I think Manson is really an FBI undercover agent. And all that wasted beautiful Trim. :'(
I'm definitely suspicious of the Sheriff.
And will someone please kill that whiny bitch Juice!
Juice can't do it. It's his in with the MC.
His payback to Jemma will be to tell Jax the truth. At this rate, I think the guy with terminal cancer is gonna be the only person to live through to the end of the show. Great episode. Vintage SOA.
Yeah, but he's gotta be alive to tell Jax, so, we've got another hostage situation.
I'd just make a phone call. I know Juice is dumb but.... :-X
Didn't Tigg get shot with a load of buckshot in the stomach last week? :o

I had the same thought. Take Gemma's phone and make the call. Jax answers because it's Gemma. Then the conversation goes like, "Hey Jax. This is Juice. I've got your mama's phone. She was helping me get out of Charming, because I was there when she killed Tara. No, she's ok even though she was going to kill me too. Want me to put her on?".
I suspect Sutter will take a much more circuitous route to Jax finding out the truth. As much as I love the show, often the obvious move is ignored in favor of the "wtf" moment.

Love it! :smitten:
It's worse when there's no music.
Is Juice gonna squeal on Jemma? I'm thinking he's just dumb enough to keep his mouth shut. He's been wanting to die for 2 seasons now. Can't wait for next Tuesday.
OK. What's Bobby Elvis gonna be this year for Halloween? A Pirate!!! See because of the eyepatch? Too soon? I can't think of an appropriate Elvis song that'll fit. ::)
Damn! I just saw this is the final season for Justified too. Shit, I may as well go back to work next year. :'(
Losing Justified really hurts.
Yeah, my Big Three is Sons, The Walking Dead and Justified. Losing two of 'em smarts. Thank goodness TWD has ramped it up so much, at least.
So, if the Indian Hills guy didn't rat to the Chinese, he said he didn't, then who did? Could someone inside the club be getting set to overthrow Jax? My bet is Able. I think he really is a "Little Person" and Wendy's ex- husband/ heroin dealer. And he's been waiting 7 years for just the right time.... :idiot2:
If Jury didn't rat, why didn't he retaliate in another way?
Maybe he's not into retaliation. Maybe he's into forgiveness. Which is why he's dead. I just get the feeling there's one more "Ohhh F--k" moment still coming in this series.
Bye Bye Bobby Elvis. RIP in your Blue Suede Shoes. :'( I'm thinking maybe the rat is named Rat. Maybe undercover Rat. :coolsmiley:
More blood on Gemma's hands.
But she said she was sorry. I think Able will spill the beans. Or else killing Jemma to be like his Daddy.

That thought had occurred to me as well. It's not like there is a shortage of guns around Abel. Imagine the tender moment between Jax and Abel when Jax asks, "Abel, why did you shoot Grandma"? "Because she killed mama, daddy". Perhaps the moral of Sons of Anarchy is that it really effs up the next generation.
I once read a book about an ATF agent who infilterated a 1%er club, the only undercover to actually be patched by a major OMC. Once inside, he was surprised at the real sense of brotherhood and belonging he felt in the club to the point that, when it came time to testify, he was really torn. He wrote there was a bond of brotherhood among the bikers that he never felt between fellow ATF agents and how the ATF would screw you over before a fellow biker would. The book is called "Under and Alone" by William Queen and you can find it on Amazon. It's a good read.
Thanks for the book reference Steelie. The show is over the top, but I'm interested in the actual culture. It's fascinating in the way that Sopranos was with the mob stuff.

You're welcome. I'm the same way. If something interests me, I often read everything I can on the subject. Heck, when checking Amazon for this book, I saw another one about 1%ers which grabbed my attention so I bought it 8) To me, the fascinating thing about both The Sopranos and Sons is the depth of their cultures, how different it is from our worlds, but also about how you start to sympathize with a character, to understand their motivations, to like them....then they do something horrid and you are abruptly reminded that
they are sociopaths.
Sons has been my favorite show since it premiered (although The Walking Dead and Justified are close). Looking back, I have come to the conclusion that Sutter is a master at creating interesting characters. Bobby Munson doing Elvis in the first season, Happy with his smiley face tats for each kill, Gemma, Chibs, each is a believable person with a backstory you can buy into. Has there ever been anyone like Tig with his innumerable fetishes, sick humor and paranoia of dolls? Sutter writes sharp dialogue which brings the best out of each cast member (Tig to Happy..."I like doing jobs with you. When we go on a job together, I'm the normal one" or Clay asking Tig "what sick things did your mother
do to you"? You can really buy into the brotherhood idea with these guys, buy into the myth because of the depth of what Sutter has created.
Where Sutter fell short, imho, is the convoluted storylines. I just don't get the impression that actual gangs play quite so many angles. Their interactions tend to be more...direct. And since Opie died, Jax has become less sympathetic a character with his over the top acts of vengeance. The stupidest, least believable thing Jax has done involved Jury's fate. Not even Clay would have gone that far, at least not in front of everyone. And this storyline with the preacher's wife and stepson...I'm not even sure what the hell is going on there right now.
Nonetheless, four episodes left and I will miss the show greatly when it's gone. It could run another seven seasons and I would watch every episode. Great shows like Sons don't come along every day and I've enjoyed the ride.
Well said, Steelie. I couldn't have put it any better.
Completely agree. It's a shame, though not a surprise, that this show's been so ignored by all the Awards-Lords. I can remember being stunned in season 1 when Tig killed Opie's wife by mistake at the stop light. It was one of those "Oh Shit" moments this show is so famous for.
Interesting write up on potential people who might be the rat......
http://www.pajiba.com/tv_reviews/who-is-the-rat-in-the-final-season-of-sons-of-anarchy.php
One person they don't mention is Barosky (Peter Weller)....kind of thinking he might be it since guns were at his dock and he hasn't had much of a role this year...would think he should go out in some kind of style...but who knows, just a thought.
I forgot that Weller has been directing some of the episodes, including this week's.
Good interview with Billy Brown (August Marks)

HOLY SHIT
A whole lotta loving going on. Except for Juice. He's gotta love-holing going on. Damn that's a tough club initiation. :o
It was an interesting episode for sure, with the highlight being the revenge scene and of course, the last scene where it appears Jax will start to understand the truth about Tara....only 3 episodes left I believe, so a lot will need to happen quickly.
I am starting to think "rat" is actually the rat of the crew. Thinking his girlfriend also had access to Gemma's house where her birds were killed and someone wrote on the walls so maybe a tag team thing. If not rat, then I stand by my other theory of borasky being it:)

I read a review which suggested the same thing. Rat got a lot of camera time and recognition from Jax this episode and has become a larger part of the series this season. Of course, Jax sponsored Rat so we don't know what their relationship was prior to Rat being patched. Either way, we'll know three weeks from now.

Yep , looking forward to see how it all comes together....
Or blows apart...
I was suspicious of Rat from the start. Besides his name, he seemed to be showing up everywhere at all times. Too much so for so minor a character. Is there anyone left for the club to kill this season? They've pretty much covered it all. I hope so because I'm not into the series for all the love.

I am sure the club will kill more people, that is a given:) Still have to kill Linn and I am sure somehow there is more to the whole white supremacist group...
And I think they hinted at least two main club members dying as the season wraps up....Bobbie was one, so likely at least one more out there for the reapers....

I'd watch that. It would be interesting to see who Sutter cast.
It wasn't Chucky's connection to the Chinese, which, frankly, I had forgotten, that made me guess him. It's one of those curveball things that you just don't see coming.
I read a quick synopsis of Bastard Executioner. It's a fighter in the employ of Edward III who has retired and is being asked to come back and pick up the blade again.
And now Jax knows.

I think originally barosky thought the club was going to immediately kill Linn and the whole Chinese crew when they setup that trap with his police buddies. If that would have happened as planned, everyone who knew would have been dead. But that plan whent down the tube when Unser and the police chief had the club followed and broke up the party early. He also did kill his one police buddy pretty quickly who likely knew he was involved. However, it is puzzling as to why when linn was taken to jail, why didn't brosky use any of his police buddies in jail to get to linn first before he spoke?
Yeah, I thought Barosky had been too easy to go along with everything club-wise. Now I'm thinking the same thing about Alvarez. Still a Robocop vs Jax Death Match would be a hell-of-a-series ending. O0 Jemma: suscide, about 50/50. And Nero and Wendy riding happily off into the sunset with the boys as the only survivors.
I'm leaning towards Jax giving up the patch in the final episode, taking Wendy and his boys and leaving. Once he sees what Gemma gave Abel, I think it will bring home what awaits his boys if he stays with the Sons. It's possible that leaving the Sons will also diffuse the Jury situation, allowing Jax to walk away alive. We already know we're not going to get a happy ending here, perhaps this is the best we can hope for.
And kudos to Hunnam, Smits and Rossi for some of the finest acting this show has seen over it's entire run. Their emotional responses to the truth was convincing and heartbreaking. Add Coates and Goggin's performance from last week and these guys are showing what acting chops they truly have.
Okay that was an amazing episode, but if everyone knew that Jax wanted to find Gemma why didn't anyone think to keep an eye on Nero?

How about a damn spoiler alert next time, Star?!?!
LOL ;D
That'd make me want to drill a hole in somebody's head.
I quit smoking for three years. Just last year, I picked it up again and have gone off and on for the last fifteen months. Whenever I watch Sons, I have an overwhelming urge to have a smoke. I think I have found the solution.
Awesome, LOL.
Now THAT is how you do TV. Serious, scary, big-time, Mow-Fow TV. Damn, what a ride!.
Yeah, that was some shit! Totally not looking forward to the finale, but I can't wait either. DAMN YOU SAMCRO! WHY MUST YOU BE SUCH A GOOD SHOW?!?!?!?!?
So much for my theory on Gemma. I half expected Jax to turn the gun on himself.
I waited for that, too.
Maybe there'll be a Marilyn Manson spin-off. He could let his eyebrows grow back and become a good guy. "Punks of Anarchy". ;)
I suppose screwing Wendy could be considered a form of suicide.
Wow.....this was a tough episode. This just ain't gonna end well for Jax. I can't tell you how apprehensive I am over the finale, especially considering the promo song is "Knocking on Heaven's Door".
The end scene with Wendy was very important to the arc of her and Jax's story. I'm guessing she will go on to give birth to a Teller child who will grow up totally untouched by the corruptive influence of the MC.
And Able will kill him. In a rose garden. :uglystupid2:
Lol. Exactly! You should write for television ;D
Look at the flowers, Gemma..........
Seriously, her line to Jax...."You have to do this. It's who we are, sweetheart". I mean, damn! Both Sons and TWD have delivered gut punches this week.
And good on Juice for how he chose to go.
Yeah, I think it's the first time I've actually felt sorry for her in the series. I was hoping she would say, "That damn Juice. I should've killed him when I had the chance".
I cant wait to binge watch the whole season.
There were several powerful scenes this week. Jax with Nero. Juice with Tully. Jax at the table with the other presidents. Gemma and her dad. Unser with Gemma & Jax. And then Jax & Gemma. All were amazing and intense.

Yeah, it's like all the actors involved have cranked it up to max. I hate that Sons is ending, but at least they're not going out with a whimper, but with a bang. Very appropriate for this show.
Wow...be careful in reading web sites if you don't want spoilers to the ending. Looks like the collectors edition book of the show got released early by mistake and includes some info about the outcome. Starting to spread on the Internet.
What a mess to be leaked before the final episode....
That is truly unfortunate. I love that show and I would hate to know ahead of time what was coming down the line. Even a little bit.
Sutter is livid and apologetic at the same time. The books weren't supposed to be released until after the finale. I'm going to work hard to avoid reading anything about Sons until after Tuesday :-\
He's definitely not happy
QuoteThis, my friends is a storyteller's worst nightmare. I wanted this book to be a complement to the show. It contains personal messages and photos from the cast, in-depth behind the scenes information and detailed breakdown of episodes. It's a smart, well-conceived book that I was very excited for the fans to have. AFTER the motherfucking finale. There are a thousand fucking people I can blame. And I assure you, by the time I am done, my fucking basket will be filled with heads of incompetent cunts. But as far as the fans go, the burden is on me. I fucked up. It was my idea for the book, so ultimately, I am to blame. So if you received a book, I apologize. I ask that you not share your wrath or pain or opinion in social media so as to not spoil the experience of others. There is no excuse for utter ineptitude. It pains me that this will be the parting memory of some fans. I hope you all tune in for the finale. It plays much better than it reads.
saw that on the news - it confirms who but not how
Any chance maybe a publicity stunt and purposely released with false conclusions to throw the audience off? It would seem like something Sutter might do to mess with the audience:) Get everyone thinking one way since he knows they likely will come across the information and then throw a complete curve ball in the actual ending?
Although I have refrained from looking at the details of the leak, it seems the actual info on what was in the book is not as wide spread as I would think it would be (or maybe I just don't come across the places where talked about in detail).....probably me just wishful thinking so the ending does not get ruined after investing 7 years into this show:)
That leaves just one thing to do---- Season 8!!!!!! :D

Sutter doesn't strike me as the "publicity stunt" type of guy, and besides the loss of so many established characters already, many of the actors have signed on to other projects.

I just meant the leak of the book contents with the finale spoiler....not that the show would actually go on beyond this episode. It's definitely is done after this season, although there have been rumors of potentially a prequel series at some point.
Ill be surprised if anyone lives. how about that.
Yeah, everybody gets killed and the last 20 min. is dead air. Finally ended by Tig's boy/girlfriend who tells us all to watch Justified starting in January.
I kind of expect Gus to walk out a cloud of gun smoke with a piece of hay stuck in his mouth while the dead bodies of various gang litter the street.
Or maybe a gang of lesbian bikers will show-up(the Ho's of Anarchy) and kill everybody after having a hot flash. :2funny: Could happen.
That is one dejected looking dog, Slash. And hot for that part of the country, isn't it?
My baby Ruby. She wasn't too keen on dressing for the holidays but I wanted to share a little X-Mas cheer. It was actually quite cold when I took that... for Florida I mean. God bless her. She's been gone to Pug Heaven now for two and a half years. :'(
Sorry about the loss of your dog. So, "quite cold...for Florida," means 80 degrees, right? No wonder she looks sad ;)
Another little nug I stumbled over, a SOA Superfan quiz. I'm ashamed to say, I only got 29 of 50 right. Enough for a passing grade, but, they still said I was Chucky :(
http://www.vulture.com/2014/12/sons-of-anarchy-quiz-super-fan.html
I'm a Chucky too-- 28 out of 50. Damn that's a tough quiz.
38. I was a Teller. Of course. 8)
Blah blah blah, I can't hear you! I have my (fake plastic) fingers in my ears!
I think I guessed at about half of the questions. And I've watched from day one.
30/50 - Chucky
Time's getting short-- all bets are final Gentlemen. I can see Jax going in a different direction for the Series Finale. I say he turns his life around after getting the Clap from Wendy and spends his last years in a convent. With a Mac 9 under his pillow of course. And during a routine doctor's visit, Abel is discovered with an unusual birthmark in the shape of three sixes. :2funny: I really don't have a clue what's going to happen tonight and that's why I love this show because I can never see what's coming on it. I just hope somebody survives and the ending isn't too preachy, the kind of "Get what they deserve" ending like The Shield ended on. I can see Jax giving himself up for the club. That's really all he's got left. I hope somebody's left to keep riding.
I think Sutter is aiming for a "Breaking Bad" kind of finale, one where the ending is something that tops the show off perfectly. I'm hoping we get that rather than a "Dexter" or "Lost" anyway....
Slash, I'm with ya'. I have no idea what is coming down the line and that's one of the reasons I love this show. Jax is supposed to meet Mr. Mayhem for killing Jury. With Jax's prowess at making deals, it wouldn't surprise me if he cuts one last one and rides off into the sunset, promising never to return. I also wouldn't be surprised if he dies ion the first thirty seconds and the next two hours are spent wrapping shit up.
Here we go boys!
I feel like I just lost my best friend. This show's lasted longer than a couple of my marriages. My man Jax came through and saved the club in the end though. And the bad guys lost. R.I.P. Sons. O0
the only perfect ending for me involved Gus riding in on an Arabian stallion with a 7.62 minigun shooting the shit out of everthing while wearing a kilt and only pausing in the carnage long enough to skull hump Jemma and flash a kawabunga hand sign at the camera.
I don't think you're been very sensitive to poor sir slash's clearly upset soul
Thanks Geek but I would pay good money to see Star's ending.
It was a solid ending that tied up everything needing to be tied up. I'd say the ending with Jax was a bit melodramatic but the entire 7 year run was filled with melodrama. Now's probably not the time to complain.
Even though we all knew how it had to end, the last minute of the show was still a punch in the gut. Much like the final moments of Breaking Bad, the ending soundtrack could not have been more perfect nor set the scene any better. We saw some of the old Jax, the guy we were rooting for once upon a time. In the hierarchy of final episodes, Sons did well.
Speaking of the finale song (and thank God they didn't use "Knocking on Heaven's Door" like we heard in the promo), I just picked this tidbit up:
The sprawling ballad was recorded by Sons of Anarchy's in-house band, the Forest Rangers, and sung by Jake Smith, a.k.a. the White Buffalo, while the lyrics were penned by the show's creator, Kurt Sutter.
Sutter is apparently a song writer as well. I thought it was amazing how well the lyrics fit Sons, now I guess we know why.
Quote from: Steelgrave on December 10, 2014, 09:40:17 AM

Complete agreement. All too often, final episodes are a disappointment. The Sons ending was entirely satisfying and held to the tone of Shakespearean tragedy that Sutter sought throughout.
Loved the chase scene with the talking dolls. :2funny:
Me, too. I was hoping for a little more from Tig than the incoherent noise he made as he rode through :)

I read that yesterday. Interesting speculation.
On the aftershow, which I assume everybody already has seen, Sutter was asked this very question and replied very coyly she's whatever you want her to be. I never understood it myself and just chalked it up to artistic license. I do think it would've been very cool for Jax to start to see and talk to Jemma like Jemma did with Tara. Some of you that scored higher than I did on the SOA quiz, answer this one. Did the Homeless Woman ever interact with or was seen by anyone but Jax during the show? That could have a lot to do with what Sutter's trying to say here.
Gemma saw her as well last season or the one before. Which, if the homeless woman was an angel of death, makes sense.
I thought I remembered her being at the cemetery when Opie's wife was buried and Jax gave her his coat. And I thought I remembered Tara was with him in the scene. Which could make sense now if she was the Death Angel. :o Wouldn't it be weird if Sutter had telegraphed all along who was going to get killed by who saw her? Makes me want to go back and watch all 7 seasons over again-- which I did already anyway.
She was in the first or second episode. I remember several other occurrences. That's why I wasn't totally surprised to see her in the finale. Never knew who she was, but, wondered what part she played in the whole thing, if any.
SOA Withdrawal!!! Need somebody to stick a fork in the back of somebody's head. Or pop an eye out, or hell I'll settle for good prison beat-down. 10pm Last night I sit in front of my TV and wait for the sound of Harleys and gunfire and.... NOTHING. Sutter should have to go back to that damned prison for real for doing this to us. >:(
I'm ignoring all the spoilers in this thread just to say I started watching SOA again last night. The last time I tried I got through Season 1 and a few episodes of Season 2, but no further. Not because I don't like the series - far from it. No doubt some other shiny thing distracted me.
Could be that you knew Season 3 was waiting for you when you finished. Don't get me wrong, I love SoA, but, the whole Ireland/Abel/IRA storyline was shite. There were some good moments, but it was mostly hard to understand accents and whole lot of no reason for anything going on.
Chibs doesn't make much sense in the scheme of things...I mean the IRA connections are obvious, the gun-running and so forth, but that's fairly high-powered for a small club like SOA.
I could be wrong, I've only just started re-watching. In the middle of Episode 4 of Season 1 actually. Chibs doesn't make many appearances thus far, though the AKs were a pretty big plot point.

Interesting. I enjoyed Season 3. It has some slow episodes, but the final few were excellent. And there were some great guest stars that season.
It's basically been four years since I watched Season 3. And then, it was each episode only once. But I remember thinking at the time that, "This is a soap opera for men." It seemed like so many of the plot points were linear and contrived. I knew Trinity was Jax's sister as soon as she was introduced. The need for the entire club to go to Ireland. A host of other things. It was the weakest season by far for me.
The show always had a soap opera quality to it, even from season 1. The season 2 ending with them all them on the dock and Jax shouting, "He took my son!" was over-the-top and lost me a little after an otherwise fantastic season. At that point, I accepted that it was going to be a show with high melodrama, but it was so well acted and written I could live with the soap.
Don't get me wrong, I love soap operas. Sometimes, the campier the better. It just hadn't occurred to me that a bunch of bad ass motorcycle guys could be construed as a soap opera.
It took me a while to adjust to it as well.
The Ireland Season kind of threw me too. How did they get their bikes over there? UPS? ::)
Harley-Davidson has dealerships in Ireland. Unless they had Cali plates, then uhh...well, okay, UPS. O0

:) I don't feel as bad now for missing this show the last few years, but I will start taking a look soon.
Soap opera is TOTALLY selling this show short. Yes, there are elements of it and they happen at some of the weirdest times, but, overall, it's a fine drama and most definitely the best show I have ever watched on television. Hands down.
maybe among the best shows but not THE best. dont get carried away. Breaking Bad was better.
How are dramas that deal with *somewhat* real life issues NOT all soap operas? I've heard SoA, BB, and WD all called soap operas. Probably The Wire has been as well.

SOA Was a soap opera but for men. Which means there was no soap involved and no fat lady either. Instead there was big Harleys and big guns and big tits with big tattoos. And the end result, for whatever reason, was violence which resulted in retribution and then more violence and more retribution. But you could never see where the retribution was coming from nor who the violence would effect. Throw in some excellent acting and an occasional human head in a pot of soup, and you had Tues. night done right. Maybe Man-Opera is better. Whatever, the world is a lesser place without it.
I like Man-Opera. Kurt Sutter described it as a "biker gang fantasy". I thought the violence in Sons must be exaggerated until I read an account of the long-running clashes between certain well known 1%er MCs. If anything, Sons may have been watered down.
yeah yeah i know, theres nothing else on but..............

Supposedly SoA's funniest moments. Some are. Some aren't. Still good to see them all.

Brings back fond memories. Thanks MetalDog.
So I'm in the third season of SoA and I'm enjoying it, but this entire baby-kidnapping/Ireland sideshow stuff is annoying the hell out of me. I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is, but it's slowed down my viewing of these episodes over the last week or so. I got through two seasons in one week, now this past week I've only seen 2-3 episodes because I just can't get into the storyline.
Please tell me this gets better and this baby nonsense goes away.
yes it does and no it doesnt
(sigh)
Well at least it gets better.
The baby enrages me. I hope Jax never finds the little snot. Stupid heroin baby.
well, arent you in for a lot of disappointment. :2funny:
Hahaha. Well, I figure they're going to find the little brat otherwise there'd be no point to making the club go all the way to Ireland. The episode I'm watching right now, they just showed up and the police tried to jack them. As long as the kid isn't an ongoing central plot point...the series is going to lose my respect if someone doesn't knife the kid or throw him off a cliff or something. Figuratively/fictionally speaking, of course. And yes I realize that's not going to happen.
The kidnapped kid thing is a pretty useless plot point with zero twists to it. Nobody's going to kill a baby off in the show, and you can see it coming a mile away. So what's the point other than "okay, Christ, let's lug the entire frigging plot line allllll the way overseas to Ireland and go on a merry snipe hunt that's sure to be loaded with 'uh-oh! look at THIS twist we cooked up' plot points which are all going to work themselves out in the end anyway so let's just waste everyone's time because we all know they're going to find the little diaper-filler anyway."
The Season 3 finale is pretty epic and the episode with Stephen King is still one of my favorites.
but in all fairness, Mirth does still wear a yellow helmet.
YMMV

Now THAT was something I didn't expect when I saw it. That was definitely a great moment in the series.
and this is why Breaking Bad is the better series, far less stupid stupid.
No question. I've already long since seen all of BB but was thinking of re-watching it after SoA.
dont get me wrong. I really like SoA. overall its great. then again I like The Walking Dead. that show has more stupid then.... then.....
it has a lot of stupid but its good.
Even in the middle of watching Season 3 as it was ongoing, I thought, 'The show is going sideways.' There was some good stuff still, but I was ready for the Ireland shite to be over about the time it began. The best part is, there's a Season 4 ;)
I just finished the fourth season late last night. Two more seasons on Netflix (5 and 6), and then 7 is the final season, right? I doubt Netflix will have Season 7 up soon though I think that concluded last month. If anything I can find other sites hosting Season 7 if I need to.
Oh boy did it ever pick up after the Irish side trip nonsense. Great stuff.
I said it before, Kurt Sutter's greatest achievement with Sons was in creating an amazing set of characters, sociopaths on bikes, each with their own motivations, histories and personalities. Kurt avoided typecasting and gave us reason to care about the Sons, even while wincing at their most egregious behavior. I don't think such a large ensemble cast has ever been so well fleshed out, and by the end of the run we knew them all of by heart. Kurt's failure was writing too many weak storylines. Kurt's success was making us love the unlovable.
Best show ever? No, but it will always be in my top five. The Wire was amazing from start to finish but you never cared for the characters like you did the Sons. Breaking Bad? IMHO, the final season was the best year of television any show ever had, especially the final eight episodes. Breaking Bad was a show that grew stronger each year. Sons was a show we loved despite it's flaws. Kinda like how we felt about the Sons themselves.
^ Very well put; I couldn't have said it better.
I never saw The Wire; I'll have to check it out.
You may be kinda screwed on Season 7. At least legally. Although, I never went looking for prior seasons before the new one came out. Usually, the previous season would come out in August, right before the new season premier in September. Now that there are no more new seasons, you might find it easier to get.
I know places. I'd just prefer to get them legitimately.
Amazon possibly? They have a pay per view system. Don't they?
Possibly. I'll look into it when I get there.
I guess my preference to avoid paying to see it overrides my preference to do it legitimately. >:D But I will be honest if they have a PPV version; SOA is worth it.
I only mention because, and don't tell anyone, I missed an episode when first broadcast. I know I know. Unforgivable and completely out of character, but, the lady in my life had a trip to the emergency room and there was no way I wasn't going to be there. So, I went to Amazon and bought the episode for $1.99 iirc. I also believe that it is still in my Amazon stuff, so I can go back and watch it at any time.
I've chosen to do without cable for years now, simply because I don't watch enough programming to justify the cost. The flip side of that savings is I have no issue with purchasing a seasons worth of my favorite shows, such as Sons, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Justified. A full season of any two of those shows still comes in cheaper than a months worth of cable, or at worst, the same cost. Lessor shows I can wait until they are free on Amazon Prime or Netflix. The only issue I have with Amazon is I can't watch the show until the next day, so I have to avoid spoilers like mad!
spoilers.....
in every show everyone dies.
I definitely went into each episode assuming exactly that!
I loved the show but I think overall Breaking Bad was better and more consistent.
Breaking Bad was amazing, but never gave me the sheer enjoyment that Sons did. BB was clearly better written and more consistent than Sons, but I never cared for any of the characters as much as I did the Sons. As I mentioned, I think that was Sutter's great strength. Besides Jessie and WW, the rest of the Breaking Bad cast usually annoyed me.
It took me a few tries to get into Breaking Bad. But once I did I could not stop.

Actually, at the end of the season Tig walks out of a shower and realizes it was all a bad dream. Or wait....that was Dallas. Nevermind.
Before he took the part, Kim Coates, who played Tig, told Sutter he wouldn't/couldn't play Tig as a straight sociopath. Tig had to have layers. As it turned out, that's exactly what Sutter had in mind.

Ba-dum-tisshhh...
Just saw the first episode of Season 7...gotta say I have really been digging the music in the last few seasons. I need to see if they're selling an SOA soundtrack or not. The ballad-like rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the end of that episode was pretty awesome and chilling considering what it was framing.
I'm psyched for you that you got to see it in such a short period of time. It makes the story flow faster, but, points out some of the flaws, too. As much as it sucked having to wait a week at a time and then nothing for nine months, I think you lose a little of the delicious pain of anticipation.
The only thing that's getting me is the quick flow in Season 7 to go from everyone wanting a more legit MC to one that's killing everything that blinks at them wrong. Totally a 180 for some characters, like Bobby. I get that the reasoning is Tara's murder, but damn you'd think someone would be a voice of reason in all this insanity.
That's the big part of Gemma killing Tara. Tara was a voice of reason for Jax. Her murder totally unhinges Jax, who was trying to be a voice of reason for the whole club. Gemma, in acting out of panic and self-interest dooms Jax and the club. I look at the final season as really Gemma's story. Through her own actions she birings to pass those her greatest fears.
^ I'm glad I accidentally read about that already in the SOA wiki page. I'm only on Episode 10, giving me this one and three more to go. :(
The entire thing feels like a carefully-constructed house of cards that's just falling down in a pile of bloodshed and body parts! O0

It took me a few tries to get into Breaking Bad. But once I did I could not stop.
Yeah, me too.

The final song was a killer and was written by Sutter. Fits the episode perfectly. This stanza tore my heart out, because it
is who Jax became.
I walk among the children of my fathers
The broken wings, betrayal's cost
They call to me but never touch my heart, no
I am too far
I'm too lost......"Come Join the Murder" (all the lyrics)
There's a blackbird perched outside my window
I hear him calling
I hear him sing
He burns me with his eyes of gold to embers
He sees all my sins
He reads my soul
[Pre-Chorus]
One day that bird, he spoke to me
Like Martin Luther
Like Pericles
[Chorus]
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king
On a blanket made of woven shadows
Flew up to heaven
On a raven's glide
These angels have turned my wings to wax now
I fell like Judas from grace tonight
[Pre-Chorus]
On that day that he lied to me
Like Martin Luther
Like Pericles
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king
I walk among the children of my fathers
The broken wings, betrayal's cost
They call to me but never touch my heart, no
I am too far
I'm too lost
[Pre-Chorus]
All I can hear is what he spoke to me
Like Martin Luther
Like Pericles
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king
So now I curse that raven's fire
You made me hate, you made me burn
He laughed aloud as he flew from Eden
You always knew, you never learn
The crow no longer sings to me
Like Martin Luther
Or Pericles
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king
I just finished watching last night as well. All I could think was how little Able was playing with that 'son' ring and what Gemma had said, that Thomas had a chance but there was too much of Jax in Able.
AFA the homeless woman. Could she have been Brooke's dead mother playing the role of psychopomp, waiting around to facilitate what Jax had to do, before being able to move on to her own next plane? Don't forget she was also in Belfast in season 3 and only Jax, Gemma, and Brooke seemed to notice her around (iirc).
She was in the very first episode, iirc. Possibly a guide to bring the warrior home?

Good call. I've been pondering that as well.
It's too soon for me. :'(

Awwww, hell, Stagger. Now I gotta go back and watch it all again at some point! :))
Ahem.....

Please don't tease. It's too painful to hope again. :-\
Sutter has been talking about another Sons for awhile now. I'm not sure this is the direction I would have chosen, but he's the mad genius, not I. Hell, I know I'm gonna at least check it out....
I didn't read the link, but, if his new series, The Executioner something or other, takes off, a spin off will have to wait. Who knows, maybe by that time, Abel will be all grown up with conflicts all his own :)

There was a tongue-in-cheek suggestion of an Abel SOA spinoff where Abel runs a gang of elementary school kids who rob and terrorize his fellow classmates. Probably close to Jax's own childhood, I imagine. 8)
It just occurred to me that I have not turned on my TV in over a month, the last time coincidentally being to watch the SoA series finale on Netflix. I'm almost afraid to get that invested in a TV show again, especially when binging out on whole seasons at a time as if they were some kind of drug. :o
I was thinking maybe the Bastard Executioner will turn out to be a Teller. Maybe he invents the BBQ fork to the back of the head technique that Jemma favors.

Wicked 😎
TIL Scot Glenn was originally cast as Clay Morrow

That could work. Let's do it over again.
There's still rumors floating around for a spinoff or prequel series. Personally, I'd like to see a prequel focusing on the founding of the MC.
You know Sutter is rumored to be working on a new show revolving around the Mayans, right?

Yeah, I've seen that. Would be cool. Did you know that the actor who played Alvarez was originally supposed to be one of the Sons?
Yeah, I haven't gone back to look closely, but I've read that both Alvarez and Scott Glenn can be seen in sequences around the warehouse in the first episode, wearing Sons colors of course. Cool beans.
^Yep. Saw a pic of the guy who plays Alvarez wearing the Sons cut. Little weird.

Guess he was slumming 8)
Scott Glenn as Clay. Alvarez as a Son. What a different show that would have been...
Don't know if I could have hated Scott Glenn more than I did Ron Perlman.
Ron Perlman was outstanding as Clay. If you hated him, it's because he was playing the part so convincingly O0
Ron Perlman is excellent in whatever role he takes.

True. Case in point, I thought Hellboy was a shite movie, but Pearlman really made it worthwhile.
Same with Alien: Resurrection. Decent enough with a shite ending, but Pearlman...again.
I thought he was pretty dead on for his role in SOA.
He helped out Pacific Rim too.
And Hellboy was shit? Them's fightin words!

Go way back and watch a very young Perlman in Quest for Fire playing a Neanderthal. For a movie consisting of grunts and ape like noises (kinda like weekends at Stars), Perlman steals every scene.
No, I clearly said "shite." That's a nicer way of saying "shit." O:-)
I never read the comics, which might have helped. Like I said, Pearlman MADE that movie. If it weren't for him it would have been whale shit. Not shite.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt ;)
Enemy at the Gates. He was more gooder as a Russkie than that fancy-boy Jude Law. And he had a great grill too.
Enemy at the Gates was a Godawful film. The first few minutes with the Stukas attacking the Volga crossings was epic, but the rest of the movie was crap. No offense, I hated it though.
^ We can agree on that. It was wretched.
Seeing Ed Harris walking around in broad daylight as he was 'stalking' the other sniper - God, Hollywood is retarded. There's stupid, and then there's movie stupid, which takes stupid to the ninth level of Hell.
It was better than Pearl Harbor.

I think we can agree there's a LOT of things better than Pearl Harbor. Root canals, divorce...
Divorce is worse, not by much though.
Yeah, even the guys that were there didn't like it. My divorce was a little like Pearl Harbor-- the battle not the movie. I never saw her coming that Sunday morning either but luckily I too had most of my assets out of town, and later after a good Mc Arthur and Nimitz-ing, she surrendered unconditionally. The Good Guys always win if properly armed and ready.
