New addition to the family - Jago, just 3 months old, 'arrived' Saturday 14th.
He's so cute! Is he your only cat or do you have others? We adopted two and let me tell you they never cease to entertain.
he looks terrified of the camera
He's actually a she :)
Our last cat passed away about 3 years ago - she was 19 years old, and the one before that was with us for 15 years. We really missed having a cat around the house, and got this one from a shelter. We had to wait until she had the last of injections before we could get her, although we picked her out from the litter not long after she was born.
The name Jago is from a heroine character in a series of SciFi books by C.J.Cherryh which Mrs.B and I are somewhat addicted to.
I stand corrected! She is cute!! Get ready to hide all of your yarn and stray papers. You and the mrs did right to adopt from a shelter. Both of our cats are shelter cats as well as the very first one we got who passed away a year ago.

Its a typical cat 'who, me?' expression after being told off for trying to bat leaves off the plant!
Congrats on your new addition!

A proud alum of my high school :)
(tho a few years before I was there)
Congrats Bob! Jago is beautiful. We have two long hair black cats that looked very much like your new addition when we got them. Just be warned though...our she-cat's #2 output could melt your armour :o. We think we've narrowed it down to feeding her moist tuna/salmon cat food. She's now restricted to the chicken, turkey, etc...
Steve, we are still experimenting with the input/output stuff - atm it seems she like quite moist food, and we have to watch her diet for another couple of months before we can try her on 'human' food.
She is a classic longhair (so she has quite short legs). Its difficult at this stage to see how big she will grow. After being with us for only 3 days she seems very settled and content, and at this moment is asleep on my lap.
Cats are terrorists. Is the conclusion I've come to in my interactions with our Siamese.
Congrats. Every house needs a demanding Queen presence who has no value added when it comes to the household chores except to make more chores such as cleaning the litter box and feeding the eternally uppity Queen.
I love the saying 'Cats don't have owners, they have staff'.

It's true. It's also true that they sleep all day just so they can annoy you at 3 a.m.
Well done bob though I suspect any counter based gaming you had planned is dooooooooomed
^That's what the big sheet of plexi will be for. Consider it a 'save game' menu option.
A bottle with water and vinager mix works well to train the little ungrateful fur balls too. :D
That pic isn't saying, "Who, me?," it's saying, "Oh SHI*! What have I gotten myself INto!?!?!?!" Seriously, Bob, congrats to you and the Mrs. I've owned cats before (more properly, as has already been observed, been owned by cats before) and my patience for them has waxed and waned through the years.
After my last two cats pitter-pattered off this mortal coil (one at 19 years old and one at 20) I swore I would not get another one. However, now that I've moved into my new house I feel my resolve starting to wane. At this point, it is only the number of a-holes who exceed the speed limit along my street (because it functions as a commuter shortcut) that keeps me from adopting another shelter cat.
stop being a pussy, a new cat would be puff-fect.
how the hell does Bawb start a cat thread with no punnery? :o

Not if my kids find him/her splattered across our front lawn. Kittens are cute, eviscerated ones... not so much.
I can't believe I just typed that. Now I have to get the imagery out of my head....
Bob, Congrats to your new feline friend 8)
its good to have at least one pet around
had a tomcat for 16 years, couldn't stand his natural death late 1999, no more pets for me for a while, now the cute little dog of the ExpensiveOtherâ„¢ is my best friend since 2009 :)

I didn't say put the kitten or the bottle of vinegar solution in the freezer.
Congrats Bawb. I would love to get a cat but I'm afraid our Kaiser would use it to clean his ears and then dispose of it unceremoniously. Right now we can have only one Kaiser.
Congratulations Bawb. She's a cute little bugger.
Thanks guys. It really is nice to have a moggie around the place again. It did take a while for us to take the plunge again, as it is painful to lose a pet that has become a part of your family, but we decided that the pleasure they bring more than makes up for the painful parts, and we do have some happy memories of the our previous owners cats.

I was within a whisker of doing so.............

Who? us?...as if we would.....
so its no good catawauling about it.

the ones Ive known have been awesome. I just wish they had twice the lifespan.
Our first one made it almost to 12 years old, which is really long. This guy's only 8-9 months, so he'll likely be around for a while.

Siamese are good cats but they are very talkative especially when they want something and yes they can also be unholy terrors.
I don't know what the hell happened today. We left the house to go walk around a little festival. Next thing I know we are talking to a dog rescue group and we ended up leaving with this guy.

I used to keep a Nerf Ballzooka handy for when my cat decided he needed to hatch some mid night revenge on us. It got to the point that all I'd have to do is reach for it and he'd bolt. But the first few times were a blast as I'd blindly send Nerf balls hurling his direction.
BOOM!

You're wise to worry about self-inflicted wounds.
More worrisome is wife-inflicted wounds. She didn't appreciate the Ballzooka any more than the cat did.
However, persistence paid off. I explained that if she let me Ballzooka the cat, he'd eventually quit. She didn't believe me, and yelled at me when I ignored her. But the proof is in the the absence of the cat. He eventually realized that midnight banzai charges were a bad idea and quit.
I guess I do miss having a cat for that reason. It was fun Ballzookaing him when he'd wake us up in the middle of the night. I kinda missed it when he quit. Then it was like 15 years of emptying litter boxes. The best times were over too soon.
