Crap, I just saw the whole Brothers in Arms 3-pack on Steam for $20.

Bought.  Installing.  I'm so weak willed.

Have you not played Silent Storm?

I have not...I thought I read somewhere that it had some crazy modes or characters that show up that aren't lifelike...unless I am thinking of something else.

This thread begs the question, why are their no WWII squad level computer role playing games? I always wondered why some one didn't use the Jagged Alliance, Silent Storm or X-Com game engine and try to make a WWII squad level game out of them.

It's been mentioned by several forumites that there is a mod to remove the Panzerkleins from Silent Storm.

Yep, that would rule out the game for me...unless my history books were wrong and robots did fight in the war.

Those aren't robots they're Anime V-weapons.  I thinks they are in the second part not the first.

I have it but haven't played for ages,  Cheap on GOG.  It seems to me it had it's moments but there were short ranges and some really annoying dumb humour.
But that is a foggy recollection.  I remember mostly enjoying it.

Although not a squad-based game of infantry combat, I always grew "attached" to my crews in B-17 The Mighty Eighth...
Now, the problem is, how to divide five Afghans from three mules and have two Englishmen left over.

Hhhmmmm....game I bought long ago, but didn't really play.  Maybe worth installing again.  Wonder how it will work nowadays.  Thanks for mentioinng.

It's better than Soldiers At War ever was.  Mod 'em out if that's what you wanna do.

It's the same X-Com style stuff, set in WW2.  But!  There is also a lot of destructible environment to be had.  It's nice being able to shoot through some walls, blow 'em up, etc.  Just be careful that the unknown person you hear on the other side of the door isn't a civvie before you go unloading the Bren through it.  ;D
