I dunno.  He posts lots of updates with new video footage.  I'm optimistic about the title and looking forward to its release.

Yeah
I feel like we should support any war gamer title.  Let's not be surprised if our niche hobby falters due to resources and business risks
It only becomes scammy if money is given and promises made

Well, the whole issue here is they're now asking for money through a parallel and seemingly disconnected channel.

Quote from: Destraex on November 12, 2024, 01:57:20 AMIt's a sign of the passion they have for the project if they are trying to outsource this component because it was refused internally. Kinda makes sense as well. I'd imagine the company executives groaning at the thought of complicating release so much and imagining the community whinging about the huge cost advertised. Especially if it's going to be direct through steam. I wonder if steam is the problem here.

I asked them about it on Steam and they got pretty grouchy. I think what you say makes sense. There's just something... off about the whole thing to me.

Yes, I do tend to get grouchy when faced with repeated light-hearted insinuations. It's not exactly encouraging to keep hearing doubts or vague accusations about something "smelling fishy," especially without much in the way of substantive argument beyond intuition, coming from a single source. That said, I'll take another shot at explaining, but with this sort of kangaroo court approach, it's not surprising I'm not eager to hang around and engage regularly.

This isn't about lacking budget or publisher support. Physical game boxes aren't exactly lemonade stands these days—they don't sell naturally out of the blue, nor are they cobbled together in someone's garage. They are no longer standard in today's industry (some of you might have realized that I am sure ^^).  Producing them requires a robust sales platform (Kickstarter, GoFundMe, Amazon, or similar), a fitting marketing campaign, global logistics for physical delivery, integrated financial solutions, and a way to handle rewards — both physical and digital, with a rich tiered system that allows people to pay for what they like, and support it for how much they're comfortable with. Kickstarter happens to be an ideal fit: it has a built-in audience for video games and wargames, provides logistics and payment solutions, and creates visibility and discoverability through its marketing reach. It's a well-known platform that helps projects like ours find their footing.

What's frustrating is how quickly one would jump to implying there's a shady or suspect move going on. While I understand skepticism, I would encourage questions that seek to understand the strategy behind the decision. Asking for insights into the thought process or logistical considerations might have been more productive than assuming there's something inherently off or suspect about it. It's not 4D chess — it's just that there's more to this than meets the eye, and money is only part of the equation. We chose Kickstarter because it aligns well with these needs, and the choice wasn't made lightly.

So yes, when the tone is one of grumpy skepticism and assertions, it breeds a reply that might very well reflect that initial take. But I hope this clears the air a bit. Constructive curiosity is always welcome, and I'd be glad to discuss further if approached in that spirit, rather than put on a stand.

Quote from: Blucher on November 14, 2024, 06:14:33 AMOk have not posted here in forever. This has always felt overambitious and reeks of a scam/vaporware. Never had a good vibe from that guy "Admiral" this game has been talked about for years and years and still nothing.

As a matter of fact, do not feel obligated to reply to a thread on the sole basis that somebody mentioned the word "grouchy" ^^

Not sure what the BS is about. Looks like it will be a great game and only wish you luck in getting there

Just another day on the BF forum ... one demented idiots reaction to BF disagreeing about the thickness of the armour on a Tiger II turret mantlet.

Thank you for your kind words guys  :afro:

We had another update yesterday. It should give you more details about the contents of the Kickstarter itself, the timeframe we're setting for the rewards and the contents of the demo. It's all in there, along with a link to help us with a survey regarding feedback & audience profiling.

You can also enter a contest to get one of the prints. The form is on this page.

Here's a preview & the details for the tiers, as planned for now

Hope it will resonate with some of you here - and reassure you that we're not going just for a quick pre-order grab scheme.
Thanks in advance to all those who'll take the time to have a look!

Cheers

Can't think of a title that I'm looking forward to more than this.
