I never could understand why the European World of Tanks special was different than the one in North America.

I just purchased my Ferdinand! It's on sale this weekend along with crew training, equipment, consumables, and a lot of other stuff. As soon as I activate my free day of Premium Time, I will take it out for a spin.

you suck as a tank commander.  the Ferd is one of the very few German tanks that enjoys an excellent gun and a forgiving match maker.

I have used worse vehicles than the Ferdinand. I look forward to having it fully upgraded, but that's probably years down the road.

At least now I have another bit of history in my WoT garage. Someday I hope to add the Maus to my collection. And the Patton. And the...well, you get my drift.

the 8.6 patch is now out and so far the improvments are great.
Ive only seen 1 arty a match in my tier 8+ battles.  the new effects and map edits are pretty damn useful and Im enjoying hearing the weeping of arty players.
in other news Ive swithed out the Ferd crew into a fully upgraded JagdTiger.  WOW!  this thing is fun!  its like playing the Ferd back during beta where everything is killable and people back up and get out of your way.

Starfury, just curious: have you played WoT nearly every day since the beta or are you just casually playing WoT 1 or 2 days per week or something?

During the beta, I often wondered how long the game could hold my interest, particularly high tier matches with the super T-54's, but the lower tier matches were a lot of fun.

Sadly, for some reason I can no longer install the game due to installer errors.

WOT is one game I may never go back to, they lost me when they stopped making new maps and decided to balance everything with gold ammo. When I saw a gold spewing L-tracktor kill a tier 9 tank, that was it for me. Game development has been stuck in a rut of just add new tanks then Nerf, tweak and repeat.

I keep hoping for new gameplay from WoT.  It seems like it would be the perfect game for some sort of Commander/Strategy element like Natural Selection 2.

I still play it from time to time, but I'm just now back to where I was before the beta-wipe.  The T-34-85 is where I'm stuck at currently.

I mostly play my doubles matches and then mess around with my Stug and JT/Ferd.  I have pretty much all the tanks I want and Ive had the same crews since the game went live.  over the last few patches they have released several new maps and created different game types on all maps.  the match maker system has also been tweeked over time so loltraktor vs maus issues wont happen.

OK. Some of my friends, who didn't participate in the beta, seem to like higher tier matches so it must be different from beta. Those swarms of T-54's equipped with repair kits and a crew with maxed repair stats were not fun in any way when I was in a Ferdinand.

I'd say that's pretty normal for a MMO. In the internet age, some guy who finds an exploit and posts about it can cause thousands of people to start using that same exploit or gamey strategy the very next day, so nerfing after adding new content becomes the name of the game as you can't test every single match possibility or configuration. I imagine the gold ammo system does make things more difficult by requiring more nerfin, though.

I'm not talking about some exploit, WOT has a business model of releasing new tanks, which 1 or 2 of high tier are OP to get people to buy gold to get them, then nerf the hell out of them a month or two later. They also have a bad habit of bait and switch with premium tanks, which get nerfed after you buy them (you pay for this but they give you that).
