Its funny how the apparent death of Jon Snow has COMPLETELY overshadowed the apparent death of Stanis. Nobody is talking about his demise.

Stannis' act during the last episode lost him a lot of support from GoT viewers so his passing isn't really being missed. I know when I saw what happened to him last night, I had no sympathy unlike Snow's apparent death.

On side note, with Cersei's walk of shame, what the heck was the Lannister army doing while their queen was being humiliated? You saw the guard let her by at the castle at the end of the walk, but that was it. Is the young king that useless or indecisive that he couldn't order his guards to at least rescue her from that walk? Is the High Sparrow that powerful and feared that the Lannister army is cowed before him?

Cersei gave the zealots legitimacy; hence their ability to hold trials and whatnot.

Jon Snow is absolutely dead.

However, there is absolutely zero chance he stays dead.  Or well, to be more clear, Jon Snow may be dead, but if he has Azor Ahai in him, then he may be resurrected as something else.

Melisandre really believed that Stannis was Azor Ahai, you could see it in her eyes when the reports came in that Stannis' men were running off.  Moreover, she went right back to the wall, to the next person she had on her list as a possible candidate.

The show left out Lady Stoneheart, so we haven't gotten to see what happens to a known dead character coming back thanks to the Lord of Light.  It's certainly not pleasant and it can only be passingly referred to as a "resurrection", especially if Jon Snow has Azor Ahai running around in his head.

Martin is on the record as saying he was really fascinated by the death of Gandalf and his rebirth as someone the same but different.  I think this is where he's going.

Statements of the show runners and actors have zero credibility.  They didn't bring in Lady Stoneheart because they wanted Jon's return to be something unique and horrific.  They're going to lie to the audience to keep that shocking reveal shocking.

Or I could be wrong, and my conclusions based on my book knowledge might be off.  However, I'm on record now saying "Jon" comes back.  I mean really, if he doesn't, what's left but a Zombie Apocalypse?

Oh, and for they that are in the know without spoiling L+R=JS.  Martin's all but admitted that fan theory is right.  If it is, there's no way they don't explore it.
"These men do not want a happy ship. They are deeply sick and try to compensate by making me feel miserable. Last week was my birthday. Nobody even said "happy birthday" to me. Someday this tape will be played and then they'll feel sorry."  - Sgt. Pinback

its just a fan theory
My doctor wrote me a prescription for daily sex.

My wife insists that it says dyslexia but what does she know.

It is, but it's a particularly strong one.  I tend to adhere to it.  Martin danced around the subject of this once, and remarked that the fans had gotten a pretty big plot twist correct, and this was one of the reasons that he'd slowed down because he wasn't going to discard it, but he had to make it more interesting.

This.

The first guy resurrected (Dondarrion) was done with the assistance of the red priest dude (the other notable one in the kingdoms, Thoros) so with Melisandre conveniently back at The Wall when Jon gets killed...

Yeah.  He may well end up one of the ever-resurrected, with the priestess there for the required assist.  Like Dondarrion.

There is so little left to hang my hat on with this show now. With Jon gone, I don't give a flying f*** about whats going on in the north anymore. The queen of dragons has gone wandering off on another time sucking sub-plot and the only possible interesting bit is if Tyrion, GreyWorm and Varys make a reasonable go of it managing the city. [hail King Tyrion? Head of the weirdest ruling Triad ever]

I completely agree. I only have a passing interest in seeing Ramsay Bolton horribly murdered. All other plots, now that Snow is gone, can kiss my ass.

Its funny how the apparent death of Jon Snow has COMPLETELY overshadowed the apparent death of Stanis. Nobody is talking about his demise.

I wonder if stanis is really dead....it was odd they cut away and did not show his death, especially for a show that loves to show dramatic deaths of its characters:)

Not showing Stannis 'death' and Melisandre at The Wall when Jon Snow gets 'killed' leads me to connect the two males with Azhor Ahai, the Red god's champion.  Melisandre had Stannis believing he was the savior.  Maybe, the savior is a combination of Stannis and Jon.  That satisfies what Kit Harrington said about his character being dead and not being resurrected AND explains why we don't see Stannis die.

I was thinking along the same lines.  Catelyn Stark is dead, but Lady Stoneheart is not.  So Jon Snow might be dead, but....

Any time is a good time for pie.

Cersei will either change, or she will conspire with Baelish (whose enterprises have been negatively affected) to eradicate the Sparrows.  If the latter (and I certainly hope it is the latter) then she will, undoubtedly, manipulate her son the King, to destroy the Sparrows.  She may even kill that one Nun with her own hands.

Sorry if it's mentioned upthread - can we assume that this is the direction Martin is taking the unfinished books?

I found it interesting that the Night Watch oath was quoted in that video.

Quote
Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post.

Well, Jon Snow is dead.  So now he (or whatever he may become) is free to marry Danaerys and take a crown.  Perhaps as Azor Ahai, driving the Others back into the far north, with Danaerys' dragons at his side.

QuoteGame of Thrones to start killing off characters from other TV shows

After the shocking finale of the latest Game of Thrones season, the producers have decided that the only way to make the show more shocking is to kill off characters from other TV shows.

"Well, frankly, we're running out of characters on our programme," said showrunner David Benioff.

"If we kill off anymore then season six will just be one long monologue from a character no-one really cares about."

"We also want characters' deaths to be shocking and surprising. What could be more shocking and surprising than Game of Thrones killing off a character from another show?"

It is understood that Penny from Big Bang Theory could be a victim of Game of Thrones shocking new direction.

"Well, I don't want to give too much away," continued Benioff.

"But imagine if Penny and Leonard have a romantic misunderstanding, and so decide to go a trip together up to the lakes. Penny could be teaching Leonard how to fish and all of a sudden Jamie Lannister runs out of a cabin and cuts her head off?"

"I mean, no one would have seen that coming, would they?"

Other potential twists could be Arya Stark murdering Special Agent Gibbs from NCIS while he slept, Gregor Clegane pulling Homer Simpson's arms off, and Brienne of Tarth decapitating Leanne Tilsley over the bar in the Rovers Return.
